Stages of Construction

Green Star Energy Homes strives to create not just a house, but a home you will enjoy for years to come.

Carefully inspected foundation engineered by a licensed professional. We provide exceptional quality, beauty and value all delivered in a timely manner. Understanding the construction process makes your building experience easy and exciting to follow.

Foundation: Each foundation starts with a soil test and foundation design performed by a licensed engineer. Once the forms are set and beams are dug, the ground plumbing is run. Then the reinforcing steel is laid for additional strength, and the concrete is poured.

Green home framing.Framing: This is an exciting time for our customers as the house begins to take shape and spaces start to form. Wood studs, beams, floor joists and/or floor trusses, and rafters are used to create the home’s skeleton.

Cornice & Roof: Once the cornice and roof are completed, the house is considered “dried in”. During this stage the eaves, fascia and overhang are built; windows and exterior doors are installed; siding is hung; and the roof decking and shingles are installed.

Mechanical Rough-Ins: During the mechanical rough-ins stage the plumbing, electric and the heating and air conditioning components are installed in the home. Upon completion of this stage the house is inspected by a professional licensed home inspector.

Insulation waiting for inspection.Insulation: This is a rapid but very important step in the home building process. Once completed, a thermal by-pass inspection is performed to assess the home’s energy efficiency.

Stucco & Masonry: Stucco and masonry crews work on the outside of the home while progress continues on the inside.

Sheetrock: At this point the house looks less like a construction project and more like a home. During this stage the sheetrock is hung, taped and floated, and sanded.

Interior trim for kitchen area.Interior Trim: This is where fine carpentry work begins. Kitchen and bath cabinetry are built; moldings and baseboards are installed; interior doors are hung; and stairs (if applicable) are installed.

Paint & Texture: Color and texture on the walls adds your personal touch.

Countertops: Granite is installed.

Tile: Floor tile, back splash and tub surround tile is laid.

Mechanical Trim Out: Once the tile is finished, the mechanical details are added. During this stage the plumber, electrician and heating and air contractors are called back to install the plumbing and lighting fixtures and set the components to the heating and air conditioning system.

Final Touches: All the missing details are completed during this stage including installation of the flooring, mirrors and glass, and door and cabinet knobs. Upon completion, a final inspection occurs.

Flatwork: Focus turns from the inside to the outside. During this phase the driveway, sidewalk and patios are poured.
