Standard Green Features

  • A better green home.Formaldehyde-Free Insulation: Formaldehyde-free insulation offers superior thermal and acoustical performance and improves indoor air quality because it’s made without the toxic ingredient, formaldehyde.

  • Dual-Flush Toilets: Designed for light and heavy flushes, dual-flush toilets tend to average less than 1.2 gallons per flush. This conserves water and saves on your water bills.

  • Low-VOC Paint: Low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints emit less gases and chemicals than traditional paint.

  • Tankless Water Heater: Tankless water heaters provide hot water on demand making them energy-efficient.  They also use less water since hot water is heated immediately.

  • ENERGY STAR Compliant: Each home we build is inspected by a 3rd-party home energy rater who conducts on site testing and inspections to verify the energy efficiency of the home.

  • Low-E Windows: Energy-efficient windows employ advanced technology to help keep heat in during winter and out during summer.

  • Light Dimmers: Light dimmers are installed in the heaviest used rooms of the home. Dimmed lights realize about 20% energy savings.

  • ENERGY STAR Appliances: Appliances account for nearly 20% of the average household’s energy use. ENERGY STAR qualified appliances can save homeowners every year.

  • Natural Materials: Green Star Energy Homes incorporates an abundance of natural building materials including slate, granite, travertine, etc.

  • Ridge Vents & Perforated Soffits: Ridge vents provide year-round performance for consistent ventilation without energy consumption.  Perforated soffits enhance natural circulation throughout the attic. Together, these are the most cost efficient methods for cooling the home.

  • TechShield Roof Decking: This reduces air conditioning cooling loads in warm or hot climates such as ours. TechShield prevents up to 97% of attic radiant heat gain and keeps attic temperatures significantly cooler.

  • 2x6 Exterior Walls: The added depth of the walls allows for additional insulation which provides a better barrier from the elements and therefore increases energy savings.

  • Sill Sealer: Designed to reduce air leakage that occurs at the point where the walls meet the slab. Sill sealer closes the gaps.
